The Spur at the High Line Opens
The final section of the elevated park comes alive, debuting this week, along with two major art commissions
The Spur, an eastward extension of the High Line along West 30thStreet that terminates over 10thAve., is open for business—or, more to the point, pleasure. The last piece of the rail structure to be converted to public use will be home to the Coach passage, lots of greenery, an open piazza and a rotating series of monumental art commissions. The first two,“We Are Here,” a series of text-based sound installations by Claudia Rankine, and “Brick House,” a 16-foot tall bronze bust of a black woman by Simone Leigh, are on display now. As if you needed another reason to stroll New York’s must-visit park.
