Normally, Neiman Marcus stylist Faith Rim’s go-to palette ranges from black to gray: “Those colors are easy, sleek and very New York,” Rim says. But in these uncertain times, she’s purposely reaching for other shades. “We can turn to color to help shape our emotions and maybe even change how we feel,” she says. So put those drab sweats aside, and try on the four colors she’s wearing these days. It just might make your day a bit brighter.
YELLOW FOR HAPPINESS
“The happiest color on the color wheel represents energy and freshness and most of all joy, which we can all use right now,” says Rim. These days, she gets a yellow pop from an Alice + Olivia floral shirt she wears with jeans and flats.
BLUE FOR CALM
“Blue can stimulate calming chemicals in your body, which is an amazing thing,” says Rim. Toward that end, she’s loving a solid blouse from Diane von Furstenberg, but she also suggests adding it to your wardrobe in a simple accessory like a necklace.
GREEN FOR RENEWAL
“This is the color of life and growth,” says Rim. “Spring is on the horizon, and the season is about renewal and regeneration, so the next few weeks are a particularly great time for green.” At the moment, Rim is renewing with a green floral Tanya Tailor dress.
PINK FOR HOPE
“Here’s a fabulous choice that speaks of compassion and hope, two things we could all use more of right now,” says Rim. “It’s also the color of hope.” Not into a full-body, hot pink look? Consider a shoe, like the pink backless loafers that make Rim feel content, even in the midst of so much unease.
