Happy Birthday 10 Hudson Yards!

The first commercial office building at Hudson Yards turns 4 this year.

10 Hudson Yards marked the beginning of the neighborhood that is now Hudson Yards. Built in 2016, 10 Hudson Yards is the first New York commercial office building to receive LEED v2009 Platinum certification and is home to world-class fashion, technology, consulting, and beauty brands. Here are a few things you may not have known about the one that started it all.

 Did You Know.....

  • The architecture of 10 Hudson Yards imagined by KPF founding partner Bill Pedersen included two buildings playing off each other as “sleek giants.” 10 Hudson Yards is one of those buildings, the second being 30 Hudson Yards.
  • The South Tower storm water retention tank can store enough water to supply the average NYC apartment water for almost four years.
  • 10 Hudson Yards has enough concrete to cover all of Grand Central Terminal with a 1/3” thick slab and enough concrete to fill 572 NYC subway cars.
  • 10 Hudson Yards has enough exterior glass to cover the High Line park more than twice.
  • 10 Hudson Yards is the only Class A New York City office building that has a direct connection to The High Line.
  • 10 Hudson Yards has the potential electric capacity to power over 60 Rockefeller Center Christmas trees pre-LED lighting, or over 160 Rockefeller Center Christmas trees with LED lighting.
  • The largest Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade balloon ever, Shamu the whale, would need to be replicated over 1500 times to fill the volume of 10 Hudson Yards.
  • The art found within the lobbies are original pieces by the artist Jonathan Borofsky.

Lastly, here are some wonderful memories from employees of 10 Hudson Yards and their experiences working here:

"One of the many attributes I personally love about 10 Hudson Yards is how diverse the culture is.

It is such a pleasure meeting and greeting everyone with an inviting and enthusiastic approach. To witness how epic 10 Hudson has evolved while creating a blue print for others to emulate is absolutely amazing. Many of our internal and external tenants are just as excited to watch and experience how quickly 10 Hudson Yards has expanded with the amenities and service we are now able to offer.

I am looking forward to the days when we are together again, even in a new way!

-Sean Marshall, Senior Brand Ambassador

"I remember the anticipation of being one of the first tenants to move in to 10 Hudson Yards. A brand new cutting edge building in the most exciting new development in New York City. A city within a city so convenient that it even has it’s own subway stop! The welcome event was so fabulous that everyone received swag bags and the bag was actually a beautiful Coach bag!

Aside from the beauty of the property, the amazing views out every window and fantastic shopping and restaurants, my favorite part of working at Hudson Yards has become the relationships I’ve developed with the fantastic people that make this place hum. The teams that operate Hudson Yards are amazing! From building management to the concierges, engineering and loading dock teams to cleaning crews, security and mail room staff, every one is top notch. Everyone affiliated with Hudson Yards has made us feel welcome from the first time we stepped through the door and have been going out of their way to make ours a first rate experience every time since. The partnership is real.

People make the difference and they elevate the experience. How lucky am I that I get to participate in such an amazing venture with people who care as much about the tenant experience as I do about the company of people that I support! Here’s to many more years of continued success!! Happy Birthday Hudson Yards! "
