There’s something special about the first sip of morning joe. Some of us are trying to capture that exquisite taste in our own kitchens. Use this method to accentuate the natural coffee flavors for that perfect first sip right from home.
What You’ll Need
- Coffee dripper
- Coffee grinder
- Filter
- Kettle
- Coffee mug
Ingredients
- Ground coffee:
- For blends add about 6 tablespoons ground coffee.
- For single origins add about 4 tablespoons.
- 2 ½ Cups of water
- Milk or dairy alternative of your choice, optional
- Sweetener of your choice, optional
Instructions
- In a kettle bring water to a boil
- Place a filter inside the coffee dripper and set it on top of your mug.
- Add the ground coffee to the filter.
- Gently shake the filter to level the coffee.
- In a spiral motion from center to edge and back again, slowly pour in just enough water to saturate the coffee ( about ¼ cup)
- Stand back as the grounds bloom, about 40 seconds
- Working in three pours, slowly pour about 1 ¼ cups of water over the coffee in the same spiral motion.
- Pause after each pour to let the water pass through the grounds.
- Add milk or dairy alternative of your choice and sweetener for taste
